Thanks to the Mount Vernon District Government Center for agreeing to host a collection bin at this convenient location!

Drop Off your acorns and tree seeds! Here’s all the information you need about collecting acorns this year! And a printable list of types of seed they need for Virginia.

Let us know if you need bags mailed to you for collecting with this form or pick them up from collection site. They should be paper or sandbag breathable material, not plastic!

  1. Collect Seeds – one bag for one tree!
  2. Deliver bag(s) to collection bin
  3. Label and weigh you bag
  4. Submit the bag weight and seed info on https://tinyurl.com/TTSeedData or use the QR code at the site

*Not sure what type of tree? Include a leaf or a small twig with your collection.

We are specifically looking for the following species of seeds for the region:

Alleghany Chinkapin, Black Walnut, Chinese Chestnut, Hazelnut, Black Oak, Bur Oak, Cherrybark Oak, Chestnut Oak, Chinkapin Oak, Live Oak, Northern Red Oak, Overcup Oak, Pin Oak, Scarlet Oak, Shumard Oak, Southern Red Oak, Swamp Chestnut Oak, Swamp White Oak, Water Oak, White Oak, Willow Oak

*No longer accepting Sawtooth Oak
