About The Event

Learn more about making tree and nature IDs and using the iNaturalist App at one of our favorite local parks. We will be gathering at Wheaton Regional Park to follow naturalist Geri Drymalski on a tree ID walk with a special focus on finding Oak trees. There will be time built in to learn more about iNaturalist, make nature observations, and practice making IDs. This walk is good for all ages and skill sets.

Skills learned on this walk will help our Tomorrow’s Trees Programa people-powered initiative to reforest the Potomac River region– identify future tree sites for fall acorn collections. And you’ll help scientists collect valuable information on local biodiversity for the DC region’s City Nature Challenge.

Instructors: Geri Drymalski, a retired naturalist of 26 years through Montgomery Parks, having worked at Brookside and Locust Grove Nature Centers.

Location: Meet to the left of the Carousel at Wheaton Regional Park. Look for Potomac Conservancy Signs!

Suggested pre-event: Download the iNaturalist app on your phone!

Rain date: Monday, April 29th at 5:00pm
