About The Event

Howard Community College is hosting a special event focused on creating a sustainable food forest and nurturing the environment! This hands-on workshop will allow you to plant trees, grow food, and connect with nature. Come together for this fun and educational experience!

Location:

HCC Food Forest – To get to the food forest, go to the parking lot on Dragon Place and walk north on the paths over the Arboretum hill. Alternatively, park in the East Garage and follow signs to the Athletic Fields. Turn right at the fence to enter the Food Forest.

At this workshop, you’ll have the chance to:

Explore the Food Forest: Take a guided tour of our flourishing Food Forest, where you’ll witness the beauty and benefits of this sustainable oasis. Onsite, there are paw paws, hackberry, persimmons, and more plants to be planted in the spring.

Learn Sustainable Gardening: Discover the innovative “lasagna gardening” technique, an eco-friendly approach to growing food, and see how it’s implemented in our food forest.

Hands-On Experience: Roll up your sleeves and participate in a hands-on lasagna gardening activity right in the heart of the Food Forest.
