Thanks to our friends at the First Presbyterian Church for hosting a collection bin at this downtown Winchester location! Look for the bin on the pedestrian mall, between the Donegal and Hill’s Keep buildings.
Drop Off your acorns and tree seeds! Here’s all the information you need about collecting acorns this year! And a printable list of types of seed they need for Virginia. Please use sturdy paper bags or boxes, no plastic to store your collections! Moisture makes the seeds sprout too quickly!
- Collect Seeds – one bag for one tree!
- Deliver bag(s) to collection bin
- Label your bag (Tree type, Date collected, Weight)
*Not sure what type of tree? Include a leaf or a small twig with your collection.

Black Walnut, Chinese Chestnut, Black Oak, Bur Oak, Cherrybark Oak, Chestnut Oak, Chinkapin Oak, Northern Red Oak, Pin Oak, Shumard Oak, Southern Red Oak, Swamp Chestnut Oak, Swamp White Oak, Water Oak, White Oak & Willow Oak.
